Before you start an assignment
ULS works with the host employer to clarify the role, known worksite hazards, emergency contacts, assignment-specific instruction, and required protective equipment before work starts. Required training and equipment must be confirmed before you begin the related work. Ask your ULS contact or onsite supervisor to explain anything you do not understand. Do not use tools or equipment until you have received the required instructions and are authorized to use them.
While you are working
Follow lawful worksite safety procedures and use the protective equipment required for your assignment. If the task, location, materials, or equipment differs from what you were told, stop before proceeding when it is safe to do so and ask the onsite supervisor and ULS for direction. Report hazards, near misses, and missing safeguards promptly to the onsite supervisor and ULS.
Injury, illness, or immediate danger
Tell the onsite supervisor and ULS promptly about a work-related injury or illness, even if it seems minor, and seek medical attention when needed. For an emergency or immediate danger, follow the worksite emergency plan and call 911. Move away from an immediate hazard if you can do so safely. This website is not an emergency-response service.
Raise a safety concern
For a non-emergency concern, call ULS at 657-395-1625 or use the contact form and choose Safety concern. Share the job reference or worksite, what happened, and a safe way to reach you. Do not send medical records, government identification, or other sensitive documents through the public form. ULS will review the concern and coordinate with the host employer as needed. ULS does not tolerate retaliation for raising a good-faith safety concern or exercising rights protected by law.
For employers
Employers requesting workers should share accurate duty, location, hazard, protective-equipment, training, and emergency-contact information before a worker starts. ULS coordinates with the host employer about assignment and site-specific instruction and protective equipment. Tell ULS promptly when tasks, worksite conditions, or safety controls change, or after an incident.
Call ULS at 657-395-1625 or open the Safety concern form.
